![]() It may not be named Destruction Derby, but the spirit of the old Psygnosis classic is alive and well in Bugbear’s latest racer. It’s rare when a racing game manages to modernize and reinvigorate an old formula with spectacular confidence, but Wreckfest does just that.Īrcade racers are seeing a resurgence of late and Wreckfest fits nicely into that sub-genre, bringing banger racing into the limelight and turning it up to eleven. You can also go crazy with the game’s available mod support. The game’s multiplayer will have you racing with friends online for demolition dominance. The Career Mode is a battle for the Championships to become the Ultimate Wreckfest champion. In some, you get to use lawnmowers, crop harvesters, three-wheelers, school buses and more! Raiden RS and Hammerhead RS are generally easy to be competetive with in C and B class, but they can be beaten by a well driven Speedie, Killerbee, Stellar and a few others. ![]()

Each cell also has a zero in it, this is the unt value for that position. The brown squares are walls, which means a path cannot go through. The gray squares are open, meaning a path can go through. ![]() The Finder is a utility that displays the maze for us. The maze.board field is a grid of Cell objects. We can get into how we can use path-finding to generate more exciting mazes in a future article, but for now, let’s call the create_wall_maze function. The code provides a function that creates this basic maze for us. We must navigate to the green box, which is our destination. In the diagram, the starting point is marked with "0" and a yellow box. We will need to navigate from a start point to an end point. In the maze, we can only move in four directions to the immediately neighboring cells. In this tutorial, we’ll create an Euclidean maze, which is a two-dimensional grid of cells. Let's reduce all these environments to an abstract and call it a maze. This might be a person walking through a park, a car driving through a city, or a game character tracking the player. Pathfinding is about getting from location A to location B. You should see a window with boxes and numbers in it. To verify you're set up correctly: python3 find-basic.py Also install the pygame package, which is required for the graphics. You should clone that repository and switch to the tutorial_1 branch. The code for this tutorial is located in the path-finding repository. You only need basic programming and Python knowledge to follow along. Here, we consider a practical application. Also known as a best-first search algorithm, the core logic is shared with many algorithms, such as A*, flood filling, and Voronoi diagrams. In this tutorial, we'll look at a basic pathfinding algorithm, based on Dijkstra's algorithm. However, once you know the core algorithms, you'll find that they apply to more abstract optimization and sequencing problems. We know it mainly from navigation and games. ![]() Pathfinding is a common programming challenge with a wide range of uses. How do we find a way through a maze? What’s the shortest drive from our place to the nearest pizzeria? Can we move the game character to the exit without walking through a wall? ![]() ![]() ![]() However in 2005 there were only five colors available – this one, a bluish-silver metallic, then bronze, red, and black. I believe this color is Platinum Silver (very much a pearl white) and while pretty, it isn’t my favorite color on this, I think a dark gray of all colors would look great here, or perhaps a blue, something to set off the very minimal brightwork. And thus, it sits here in the open behind a gas station a stone’s throw from I-80. It doesn’t look like it needs all that much work to get back on the road, but probably needs more time than whoever’s car this is has at present. The new front bumper is straddling the back, the hood is on the roof, the replacement fender’s already attached and the boxes probably hold a bunch of other necessary stuff. But at day’s end it remains instantly recognizable as a Thunderbird. The Thunderbird has gone through so many different sizes, styles, and personas over the decades that almost anything goes, there really is no “one” theme. I find the taillight design to be excellent, not so much the porthole windows in the removable hardtop, but the overall proportions work for me, especially when viewed from this angle, and even better with the top down. I wouldn’t call this exactly opulent, but it is cleanly designed and relatively attractive, if perhaps lacking a little in the pizzazz aspect it is a Thunderbird after all, and a little over-the-topness was part and parcel of that in the earlier days.īehind this badge sits the engine which started out as a Jaguar designed 3.9l DOHC V8 known as the AJ-30, but as of 2003 was replaced by another Jaguar unit, the AJ-35, a modified unit of the AJ-30 now producing 280hp and 286lb-ft of torque backed by a 5-speed automatic transmission. Along with the steering wheel and some smaller trim pieces, it is shared which obviously helps to bring down the production costs of a fairly low volume model. If you’ve ever spent time in the Lincoln LS, then this instrument panel is familiar. The platform itself, though no body parts obviously, was shared with the Lincoln LS and Jaguar S-Type, and it was built at Ford’s Wixom plant. Obviously there was some sort of frontal impact, perhaps an animal strike, perhaps a fender bender in traffic, but enough to damage most of the front end sheetmetal and likely some substructure parts. I still don’t understand how it’s the 50th since if 1955 was the first year, that would make 2005 the 51st year, not the 50th, but that’s marketing math for you I suppose. What we have here is not just a Thunderbird, but a 50th Anniversary one from the 2005 model year, which was also the last year of production. And yes, those are not one, but two ladders on top of it. ![]() And until this summer every one I’d seen had been in very good shape, generally a weekend car, and probably polished and pampered way more than the average car. Then when they realized they ran out of ideas and it had been a while without one and came up with the eleventh, the retro one for 2002, I was back on board. ![]() ![]() I’m okay but not in love with the first generation, not a fan of the second, absolutely adore the third and fourth, then they pretty much lost me until I warmed up a bit to the ninth and generally liked the tenth. But the parts situation does not sit well with me and was the reason I sold it.Count me as one who likes the styling of the newest Thunderbird. Certain parts are unavailable.ĭespite this, I sold it reluctantly and often get the urge to buy another one. In spite of an excellent after market company providing some parts, this car falls into the obsolete zone. They cleaned it, modified the fuel delivery hose and all was well again. It took them six weeks to find a replacement from a written off Lincoln LS as there were no longer fuel tanks available for the car. Ford tried several times to make the engine trouble light go off until they discovered cracked fuel tank where it is hidden by the bodywork. It needed an new A/C assembly at 20,000 miles but the real issues began with poor performance due to fuel issues. It was a comfortable touring coupe with adequate performance and a penchant for eating plug ignition assemblies. The silver beauty was mine until a year ago and I put a mere 25,000 miles on it in that time. I purchased a 2005 with bells and whistles just as Ford were step-selling for $30,000 dollars them to clear them. ![]() ![]() We love their products, and the company’s specially formulated engine coolant is no different. Since it’s a propylene glycol based product, it helps to prevent engine seal and gasket failures, particularly around the water pump gasket. It’s a non-toxic, biodegradable formula that’s also phosphate-free, promising a longer lifetime. Similar to the Bel-Ray product above, this one is also environmentally conscious. Corrosion protection is also guaranteed, no matter what your system is made from it protects aluminum, copper, steel magnesium, cast iron, and more. It will also reduce your engine operating temperature by as much as 20 degrees, which makes it an ideal coolant for road racing of off-road riding. No matter the weather, this coolant will ensure that your engine is running at the optimum temperature. Once added, the Engine Ice High Performance Coolant offers boil over temperatures to 256 degrees Fahrenheit, whilst providing your motorcycle with anti-freeze protection to temperatures as low of -24 degrees Fahrenheit. Bel-Ray’s Moto Chill Racing Coolant is suitable for use in all liquid-cooled, sealed engines. In that respect, it’s as environmentally friendly as a coolant can be, with all of the coolant’s liquid components being biodegradable, breaking down into harmless and environmentally sound molecules. We’ve mentioned that it’s not irritating to the skin, but it’s not harmful to ground water in case of a spillage either. This product is an effective an affordable coolant for your motorcycle, but what we really appreciate most from this Bel-Ray coolant is the fact that it’s both non-toxic and recyclable. Like most coolants, it’s specially formulated to protect your motorcycle from corrosion, whilst simultaneously extending the working life of your cooling system, even those that feature magnesium or aluminum components. This Bel Ray Moto Chill Racing Coolant caught our attention and ranks in first place thanks to the fact that it’s a non-toxic formula manufactured from propylene glycol, ensuring superior heat transfer and the promise of cooler running engines, without putting your health or the environment in any unnecessary danger. It’s a brand name that many riders have come to rely on over the years, and if you’re looking for a high quality but low cost motorcycle coolant, then this product is worth putting in your basket. ![]() ![]() ![]() But you can also expect limited facilities on some of the town run beaches during September. “local summer” - beaches will often not charge for parking midweek. From Labor Day through the end of September - a.k.a. We also got on the beach before dawn to allow us to watch the sunrise and do the majority of our walking during the cooler hours. While I am sure you can do it any time, I’m not sure I would want to do it during a hot stretch in July or August. We chose to do our walk in September when the temperatures were cooler. The choice of month will impact the availability of facilities and the climate. You will also want to consider when to do the walk. ![]() We turned on location tracking so my niece could watch us remotely, and gave her estimated times for pickups that we would update throughout the walk. When it comes to arranging for pickups, bear in mind that while cell coverage along the seashore is much better than in previous years - ironically due to emergency services for shark attacks - you will still lose connectivity in several places. My niece was kind enough to volunteer to be our personal driving service. Whether you do your Thoreau Walk over one or multiple days, you will need to arrange a dropoff and pickup. One other tip to pass on: by choosing a date between a new and full moon, you can minimize the risk of flood tides. But you definitely do not want to get caught between a flooding beach and a 70 foot vertical bluff. This will of course change each season based on the impact of storms. To minimize the risk here, we talked to rangers at the Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham, since they have the best knowledge of the dangerous areas. For our September 2021 journey, the areas north of Marconi Beach and around Ballston Beach were washing over at high tide. While the Cape Cod National Seashore is really one continuous beach, not all areas are impacted the same way by the tides. Also, given the aggressive coyotes in this area, you should think twice about being on the beach at night. ![]() Rangers patrol the entire length of the beach, so it is best not to violate these rules. The Cape Cod National Seashore is open from 6 AM to 11 PM, and does not allow camping or fires on the beach. The entire trip can be done in about 9 hours of walking with no breaks - but most people split this over two or three walks to allow time to enjoy the scenery. ![]() While your pace will vary based on the softness of the sand, you will cover about a mile every 20 minutes. The walk is 28 miles, all on the beach, and walking almost continuously on a slight incline. I did it for the first time this month, and thought I’d pass on what I learned to anyone else interested in making the journey. The book chronicles the flora, fauna, landscapes, people and culture of Cape Cod in the 19th century, freezing in time a long gone era.ĭue to the creation of the Cape Cod National Seashore in 1961, you can replicate Thoreau’s 28 mile hike from Eastham to Provincetown today. With Orleans as his base, he walked up and down the seashore multiple times, both the backside (the side facing the Atlantic) and the bayside (the side facing Cape Cod Bay). Cape Cod was so rural in those days that Thoreau had to take a stagecoach from Sandwich to Orleans - staying in Sandwich for such a short time he said he only had “half a sandwich” (that’s naturalist humor for you). It is like traveling back in time to see what the Cape was like 170+ years ago. But I make an exception for the book Cape Cod. A few pages of Walden almost always guarantees me a sound sleep. I have often wondered why people take medication to sleep at night when they could just take Thoreau. I am not a big fan of naturalist writers in general, and specifically Thoreau. Thoreau, a native of Massachusetts, is best known for his book Walden. I was introduced to the idea of a Thoreau Walk by reading Cape Cod, a collection of essays by naturalist writer Henry David Thoreau on his trips to Cape Cod in the late 1840s and early 1850s. ![]() ![]()
